Century 21 Real Estate Is NOT A Sponsor Of The Rush Limbaugh Radio Program

We are authoring this post to end the rumors sparked by an inaccurate statement made by Representative Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) on the House floor of the U.S. Congress on March 1, 2012. Responding to the recent controversial remarks made by Rush Limbaugh, Rep. Speier asked women to boycott those companies that sponsored Limbaugh’s radio show.  Century 21 Real Estate was cited incorrectly, among a number of other companies, as a sponsor of the show.

Let’s be clear. Century 21 Real Estate is not a sponsor or supporter of the Rush Limbaugh radio program, and we have taken every proactive step possible to ensure our network ads will be blocked from running within, or adjacent to, this syndicated program in the future.

Women are very important to our business, a business that has been supporting female home-buyers and sellers for more than 40 years.  Women play an important role in the real estate industry both from the agent side (57% are women*) to buyers (20% of recent home buyers were single females*).

Century 21 Real Estate actively promotes, creates and fosters an environment of diversity throughout its organization and views this concept as a critical component to the ongoing success of our business.

Will you do more, and hold a press conference denouncing the misogyny? This would go along way with moms, homes, wifes, and house buying!

    Thank you!

There are some among you who ride with Rush…some of your agents. Will you put a stop to that?

I am not surprised that Century 21 was mis-identified as a sponsor of the Rush Limbaugh Show by those who would like to register women’s sexual activity to government databases under the pretense of fighting for women’s rights to contraceptives. I understand that buying and selling a house or commercial property cuts across all political, moral and sexual realms and must not pretend to be supportive of one over another. However, the point Rush was making, although very crude for effect, was that a young woman who is attending a prestigious Jesuit university (a very very expensive university) who wants the taxpayers to pay for her sexual escapades (which she indicated was 3 a day) is a bit much! The taxpayer’s investment would be much better spent on getting enough money and jobs to buy a home or business! THAT is the business of Century 21!

    Great response Century 21!

Lets be clear, you spend millions with Clear Chanel and that means you are supporting violence against women.

    Stop supporting hate speech.

I understand the corporate HQ may not sponsor Rush Limbaugh, but can you confirm that your local offices have never sponsored his radio show? If a local Century 21 office did sponsor the rush Limbaugh show in a local market can you not dictate advertising guidelines for such local offices? Please let me know.

  7. avatar Joan Reed-Nickerson says:

Century 21 corporate does not advertise on Rush Limbaugh but local agencies do. We will keep the pressure on Century 21 to inform their agents they cannot advertise during or ascent to Limbaugh. Many fine companies prohibit their ads from running during Rush or the other controversial programs. I know, because I am a radio station owner and routinely get spot buys with orders not to run in Rush.

    Thank you for dropping Rush.
His hateful lies were dividing Our Nation

I do not really know what Rush did or did not say. If I find something some says offensive I turn them off. I do not think that the advertisers have anything to do with what the person speaking is saying. I think we as Americans are to sensitive to all this hype. I would not like if Century 21 or any company stood behind a hate monger and said I agree with this or that. But Rush has the right to say what he wants. We have the right not to listen or take seriously all the reteric. At any time some TV personality could make an unkind , hurtful or down right mean spirited comment, we all do now and then. That does not mean that anyone around him, sponsors or network, or gaff guy or secretary for the network agree with that statement or approve of what he said. Rush is as over inflated and full of hate as his libretarian conterpart. These people preach hate and take everything to the utmost extreme. Quit listening, turn the channel. Give him no weight. Do not buy into the hate and ugliness and he and all the other shock jocks will go away. But we do listen and pay him attention. And he makes a ton of money by sayiing the most outrageous thing he can think of. And we pay him. And what does say about all of us.

If women are important to your business, what about the women who side with Rush Limbaugh? Do not use gender to assume what someone stands for.
