When you’re ready to sell your home, updating your swimming pool may be a quick way to attract buyers.

Create an outdoor oasis that visitors will gravitate towards and long to enjoy with their family and friends.

Though potential buyers can see a pool as additional maintenance, you can wow them with these four steps:

1. Give the pool a purpose

Whether you create a relaxing retreat or a festive, party patio, having a defined look and feel for the outdoor space is critical for helping the buyer visualize himself/herself enjoying the pool.

2. Decorate with attractive furniture

Lounge chairs, wicker love seats or dining tables and umbrellas can help the outdoor space feel fun and functional. Create a space that appears move-in ready for the buyer.

3. Plant with maintenance in mind

Plants that drop leaves or fruit can cause a headache when it comes to pool cleaning (not to mention clogged and damaged filters). Choose potted plants or shrubbery to spruce up the pool deck, giving it a warmer feel without the landscaping annoyances.

4. Choose a soft and safe deck

Though a stone deck my look the most elegant, the bumpy rocks can be rough on bare feet and look dangerous for children. Concrete, though seemingly the most simple, can crack in high temperatures and gets very slippery when wet. Invest in pavers or a vinyl deck for minimal maintenance.

Follow these recommended strategies and you’ll be swimming in offers letters in no time!
